Catalogue of the exhibition of prints after Pieter Bruegel the Elder from the collection of the National Museum in Warsaw. The publication contains reproductions of all works on display: starting from the most valuable one, the etching Rabbit Hunt – the only print made by Bruegel himself, to more than twenty prints after his drawings made in the workshops of 16th-century Antwerp printmakers and additional works after drawings by Hieronymus Bosch for added context. The catalogue also includes the curator’s essay, in which Joanna A. Tomicka discusses the significance of printmaking in 16th-century Europe, outlines the artistic and intellectual atmosphere of Antwerp in Bruegel’s time and introduces readers to the amazing world depicted in the prints.
