The exhibition “The Museum – Zegrze Reservoir Route. Arena for Modern Art” (NMW, 3 September–18 October 2015) recalls a project presented by the National Museum in Warsaw more than 40 years ago. Marian Bogusz and Jerzy Olkiewicz invited artists and architects to design communication between the Museum and the Zalew Zegrzyński (the Zegrze Reservoir) by means of a route finishing at a projected branch of the NMW built upon the waters of the reservoir. The idea met enthusiastic reaction from the then director of the Museum, Stanisław Lorentz. Applications were presented in the Mail Hall of the Museum in summer 1971. The latest exhibition of the National Museum in Warsaw is a reconstruction of
that event.The bi-lingual Polish-English catalogue accompanying the exhibition includes designs delivered to the contest as well as other interesting documents.
