Faleristics Collection
Equally fascinating is the Faleristics Collection. Though this particular collection has a relatively short history in the Department of Coins and Medals, it does contain some very interesting pieces. The collection itself was established only after the war yet the provenance of most of the items reaches much further into the past; a fact that is particularly true of the items originating from the collection of Stanisław Kosieradzki. Very interesting is a set of decorations issued by various shooting clubs as well as an exhibit of German military awards and decorations.
Also on display is a vast range of pins and decorations related to governmental administration, social organizations, sports clubs, etc. Enthusiasts of Polish military awards, decorations and emblems will also find much to enjoy. Some of the decorations on display are extremely valuable on account of their recipients, for example an Order of Polonia Restituta awarded to former Polish president Stefan Starzyński. Also very interesting is a set of stars of the Order of the White Eagle, the oldest items in this group.
