Masterpieces of Persian Art from Polish Collections is a two-volume publication edited by Prof. Tadeusz Majda – university teacher and the curator of the Department of Oriental Art in the National Museum in Warsaw. The book was published in 2013 by the Iranian Academy of Arts in the bilingual English-Persian edition. The published in Teheran catalogue is an extended version of the publication issued in 2002, which accompanied the exhibition of Persian art in Polish collections displayed in National Museums in Warsaw and Cracow.
Essays of the world-renowned specialists in Persian art, such as Marie Lukens Swietochowski, Walter B. Denny, Marthe Bernus-Taylor and John Carswell, were added to the new edition of the album. In comparison to the Polish version, the content of the book was enriched by adding the entries and a helpful glossary. The catalogue also contains more than four hundred color photographs of Persian textiles, weapons, ceramics, manuscripts, coins, drawings, engravings and maps. Masterpieces of Persian Art from Polish Collections is the first large-scale Persian-Polish joint venture in the field of history of art.
